I've just tried it and Alt-O on '..' displays the contents of the 
parent directory as it is supposed to. You have to give more detail 
if you suspect there is a problem with this feature.

When keying in Alt_O while on '..' in a directory, shouldn't
it open the lower directory in the other panel, to be consistent
with the normal behaviour? Now it opens the same directory
again.
